The purpose of this post is to address areas in our lives where we consistently make empty commitments (knowingly or unknowingly). Addressing this shows that we are aware and ready to make a change!
Commitment means being dedicated to the cause, activity, person, relationship, agreement, etc. \
If you are anything like me you have a bunch of ideas, projects, journals, are planners that are unfinished (yikes lol). Things that you may have picked up from the store, inspiration, or from other people's ideas, those that “sounded good” at the moment. But when you dove in to get it popping (to start or do the “thing”) you weren't quite ready for all that it entailed…
Empty commitment = unfinished business.

Let's Get Focused...
Making Commitments to God
When you commit yourself to God, He expects you to show up. He doesn't care if you are woven up and put together perfectly. He wants you as you are now, in your wholeness and brokenness.
Scripture - “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:27:30 NIV
POINT #1 - Stop leaving God on read with your empty commitments.
Making Commitments to Yourself
Often times we tell ourselves things we are going to “start” doing for our physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional health… We may even get a few good days in staying consistent with it, then comes the day when we are triggered or we wake up on the wrong side of the bed (me lol). At this point, we have to decide “am I going to keep going or stop today?” Most times we choose to just quit and say we will start another day but honestly… we never do.
In these exchanges you have with yourself, you are saying “I know I need this to grow, but it's just not important right now”. You allow your flesh feelings to have control.
🛑 Let’s stop doing this.
Next time you plan to do something for yourself such as; diet, journal plan, Bible study plan, etc. I need you to prepare for the moments when you don’t feel like it! Prepare for the disruptions that come with each day so that you will be prepared to still show up for YOU.
Making Commitments to Other People
Just briefly and lastly but not the LEAST. Check on your friendships and connections with people.

POINT #2 - Do what you say you will!
Let's Work!
Take a mindful moment today and start digging into these areas of your life. If something needs to be adjusted, please be willing to do the work.
